Each month, a classroom challenge
will be put on the PTMA website.
To take on this challenge:

Download/print off the classroom challenge
*
Encourage children to take on the challenge and attempt to solve it
* Create/compose
a similar challenge and email to carmelburns_at_eircom.net
[replace _at_ with @]
* This
challenge will then be uploaded on the PTMA website and you and your
class will be credited with the work
*
Children can then see their own work on the website and share this
work with children in other schools

This
Month's Challenge

| This
month's challenge is an excellent oral/mental mathematics
activity for the beginning of the mathematics lesson.
A magic number is chosen
e.g. by tossing a dice.
Instructions are then called
aloud e.g. multiply by 6; increase by 10; find half...
Children can then compare
the final answer!
Work out some of the
following mental challenges and then try your own using the
blank template.
